President Benigno Simeon Aquino III together with Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn explores the world-famous Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park to boost up its campaign to be one of the new Seven Wonders of Nature during his visit to Puerto Princesa City Wednesday February 9, 2011. The 8.2 kilometers Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park was included in the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites on 4 December 1999 for its outstanding ecological universal value. It is located about 50 km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines is one of the most distinguished biodiversity conservation areas in the country. It’s known lush old growth tropical forest, interesting wildlife, pristine white sand beaches and unspoiled natural beauty. It features spectacular limestone formation that contains an Underground River that is reputed to be the longest navigable underground river in the World. It is one of the few such rivers which the public can easily experience and appreciate. Joining the President is Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn.
